Supporting and advocating for mental health within communities is crucial. When individuals are happy and positive, they experience an overall sense of well-being. This positivity enables them to engage with others and be more productive at work, attend social events, and community activities, leading to a vibrant and active community. A mentally healthy community fosters stronger relationships, bonds, and most importantly, trust.

Conversely, mental health problems can undermine the safety and stability of a community, leading to issues such as depression, substance abuse, violence, and homelessness. These problems can also impact the economy through missed work and increased healthcare costs.

One of the ways to provide resources to build healthy, vibrant communities is by promoting outdoor physical activity, downtime from work and school, focusing on social connection, and being present. Additionally, communities can continue to create supportive environments by awareness and training events to include recognizing signs of mental distress, such as Mental Health First Aid, and advocating for policies that support mental health and subsequent funding for those policies.

Across the service area, Mind Springs promotes prioritizing mental health through education and awareness activities, as well as offering programs that foster understanding and encourage individuals to seek help. Mind Springs develops school programs, additions to their substance use disorder services, and continues to create wrap around services for all clients. These initiatives offer affordable, accessible, and diverse services.
